PRIVACY

Smart Richmond does not currently set advertising or analytics cookies.

If you select English, simplified Chinese or traditional Chinese, the site saves that preference in your browser’s local storage under sr-lang. It is used only to show your chosen language and is not transmitted for advertising.

When you vote in a Smart Richmond reader poll, a cookie records that you have voted, and a one-way salted hash of your IP address is stored to limit repeat votes. Cloudflare’s approximate location (city level) is used only to split results into local and overall totals. We also count, in aggregate, the general source of the visit (for example Google, Facebook or direct); individual visits are not stored against your vote.

The site is delivered through Cloudflare. Like other hosting and security providers, Cloudflare processes technical request information needed to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

The site does not currently contain a campaign contact form. If you follow a link to X or another external source, that service’s privacy practices apply.
